European History

Sophomore History covers Europe, beginning with the cradle of Western Civilization in Greece and Rome.  We examine the intellectual, cultural, and technological advancements in Europe that allow the continent to become the dominant force on the planet through the periods of Antiquity, the Middle Ages, and Modern Times, and how the 20th Century changed all that.

Class curriculum also requires that students conduct original research.  This can take the form of a research portfolio, the creation of a History web site, or submission of a research paper meeting the standards of the Belt High Honors Program.
